4 Day Cape and Winelands

Overview

Come experience the magnificent winelands of the Stellenbosch area with a private wine tour. Enjoy the the historic town and its sights before relaxing in the lap of luxury at Grootbos Nature reserve with fantastic views over ocean and fynbos and multiple optional activities to choose from. For the brave and curious there is an optional Shark Cage dive on the cards before heading back to Cape Town via a scenic coastal road.

Itinerary

Day 1: Stellenbosch Wine tour

 

Stellenbosch

A blend of historical architecture, student life, epicurean delights and oak-lined avenues, Stellenbosch is a picturesque university town surrounded by mountains and vineyards. A Visit allows visitors to take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture, as well as the many enticing art galleries, craft shops, clothing boutiques and gift stores, while foodies may prefer indulging in mouth-watering cuisine and fine wines at one of the chic restaurants or buzzing bistros. Stellenbosch is also the ideal base from which to explore the renowned local wine route, boasting a high proportion of the country’s leading wine estates.

Day Itinerary

For Guided tour package clients the guide will collect clients in Cape Town or Cape Town International Airport and drive to the picturesque winelands town of Stellenbosch to start our private wine tour. Self-drive clients will meet the guide in Stellenbosch or Cape Town and will then depart with the guide and his vehicle on a private wine tour. This fantastic wine tour will visit 3-4 unique and selected wineries for wine tastings and also include a cellar tour during the day.  Time will be made to have lunch on one of the beautiful wine estates in the area. As this is a private tour, the guide will focus on the needs and perseverance of the clients. For the active clients, the private wine tour can be substituted with a private cycle tour of Stellenbosch Town and its vineyards.

Tonight’s accommodation will be at the beautiful Lanzerac Hotel situated on a wine estate close to the town of Stellenbosch. Dinner at the Hotel.

Day 2: Franschhoek and Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, Whale Coast

Whale Coast

This rugged stretch of South African coastline snakes along the Atlantic Ocean, with magnificent mountains rising up on the other side. The spectacular scenery is made up of charming seaside villages, farms, rivers, coves and valleys, and during the right season, the region’s namesake – whales – can be seen cruising and wallowing in the coastal waters.

Day Itinerary

Today’s drive will take you through Franschhoek for a optional wine tasting and a short walk through the Historic town. From here we will drive the scenic Franschhoek pass toward Villiersdorp and further to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. Lunch will be had at Grootbos before you can embark on the many optional activities available at Grootbos like Horse riding, nature walks or beach walks.
Grootbos has a great restaurant and a top class dinner will be had at Grootbos Lodge.

Day 3: Gansbaai and Scenic drive to Cape Town

Resting at the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean, sandwiched between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain and the glistening sapphire waters of Table Bay, the exceptionally scenic city of Cape Town is in a class of its own. Some cities boast rich culture, vibrant nightlife, a cosmopolitan atmosphere and extraordinary architecture, while others boast breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary natural wonders. Cape Town, is lucky enough to be blessed with all of these attractions and so much more. With its bustling harbour, world-class beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna, Cape Town consistently captivates the hearts of all who visit.

Day Itinerary

This morning you have the option to go Shark Cage diving in Gansbaai, which will be an early start, or you can relax at the Grootbos lodge and take in the magnificent views, have a swim or go for a Nature Walk.
Depart in the afternoon towards Cape Town via Bettys bay with an optional hike in the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens.

Tonight’s accommodation is in the Famous Waterfront in Cape Town with many top restaurants just a short walk away and the magnificent Table Mountain in the Background to top of the setting.

Harold Porter Botanical Garden
The Harold Porter National Botanical Garden is in the heart of the Cape’s fynbos region and is home to a spectacular variety of Proteas, Ericas, conebushes, and cape reeds or Restios. There are over 700 species of indigenous South African plants and 88 species of birds. Garden walks, hike, a restaurant, curio shop and nursery complete its offerings.
Marine Dynamics
Marine Dynamics, operating in Gansbaai, Western Cape, South Africa, a world hot spot for the great white shark – you will experience an incredible cage diving adventure on board our custom designed boat, Slashfin, (named after one of our visiting sharks). An on board marine biologist will educate you as you get up close and personal with this amazing apex predator in the famous Shark Alley. We are certified by Fair Trade in Tourism, live by our motto of ‘Discover and Protect’ and work together with the Dyer Island Conservation Trust. We are involved in shark research which includes shark fin identification and tagging and tracking the great white. You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal. And along the way, you can view the rest of our Marine Big 5 – whales, dolphins, seals and the African penguin, as well as incredible seabirds. We are only 2 hours drive from Cape Town along a scenic route. Day 4: Cape Point tour and end of tour

Day Itinerary

Today we take the day to explore the Cape Penninsula. We will visit highlights like the Penguin colony in Simons Town, Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope.
An optional hike in the Nature reserve is available before driving the famous Chapman’s Peak drive to Hout Bay for Lunch. After lunch we will drive the coastal route via Camps Bay and its beautiful beaches back to Cape Town.
Tour ends in Cape Town or for Guided Tour clients we can drop clients at the Cape Town international airport.

Cape Point is open daily and is a must-see.
